Anthony Brooks is the founder and operator of Alota Tile. He began his tiling career in 1996 while travelling in New Zealand when he was hired as a tile labourer. During this time he discovered that not only did he have an aptitude but also a love of the trade. In 1997 Anthony was able to secure an apprenticeship position with a licensed Master Tiler in Australia where he learned the intricacies of the craft over a period of 3 years. Upon returning to Prince Edward County in 2000, Anthony was employed for a brief period by a local installer but soon discovered that he was an entrepreneur at heart and struck out on his own, literally working out of the trunk of his car. He met his wife Lesli in 2002 who helped him to register the business, hire a labourer, and begin Alota Tile.

Lesli Brooks is Anthony’s partner in life and in business. Lesli graduated from the Business Administration – Human Resources Management program in 1995 and has since taken several additional college level accounting courses including Management Accounting and Taxation. Prior to becoming a wife, mother, and Alota Tile’s Office Administrator, Lesli was employed by The Keg as a restaurant manager, primarily responsible for Front House service as well as hiring, training and development.

Together, along with their talented installers, Anthony and Lesli have operated a successful tile installation business for the past 15 years. Their work can be seen in many homes and businesses in the area including The Inn at Huff’s Estate and the lobby and condominiums in The Edward Building in Picton. While Anthony’s first love is designing and installing beautiful tile showcases it has long been his dream to add a retail outlet to the business. As their team of installers grew and the right location presented itself, Anthony and Lesli opened the Alota Tile Showroom in July of 2014.
